In October 2017 writer Robert Macfarlane (The Wild Places; The Old Ways; Landmarks) and writer and artist Jackie Morris (East of the Sun, West of the Moon; The Snow Leopard; Song of the Golden Hare) had their game-changing book The Lost Words: A Spell Book published by Hamish Hamilton (an imprint of Penguin).
Described by The Guardian as a “cultural phenomenon” this book holds “spells of many kinds that might just, by the old strong magic of being spoken aloud, unfold dreams and songs, and summon lost words back into the mouth and the mind’s eye”.
At the risk of sounding like tinfoil hat wearing conspiracy theorists, the Switch2IT team regularly explores invasions of data privacy. But when something like The Capture hits mainstream British TV, all does not seem so beyond the realms of possibility. More than that, the danger of relying on technology to do everything for us is that it will take over our lives to the point of altering reality.
